How to join the administered regime
By joining the administered regime, Young Platform calculates, withholds and pays taxes for you on the crypto-assets held in your Young Wallet. How the regime works is explained in What is the administered regime and how it works.
Joining is free and the regime applies from 1st January of the year following the signing date.
This guide is for those who are resident in Italy. If you are resident abroad, you do not need to join: you are already automatically under the administered regime starting from 1st January 2027, as required by law.
Before you start
- If you are signing up for Young Platform now, choose the regime directly during registration on the platform.
- Capital losses accrued under the declarative regime do not carry over to the administered regime. Read the guide How capital losses are managed between the declarative and administered regimes before signing.
- During the joining process, we search for crypto deposits you received from other platforms or wallets. Certifying them is optional and has an additional cost: read What is deposit certification and why do it.
Here are the steps to join the administered regime:
- On the Home screen tap Discover on the banner. Alternatively, open Taxes & Reports from your profile.
- Read how the regime works and tap Start.
- Tap Start search: we analyse your history to find crypto deposits and the wallets they came from.
- Check the search result and tap Continue. If we found crypto deposits, you will see how many there are, their total equivalent value and the estimated cost of certification.
- Read the Terms and Conditions of the service and the Application Form, confirm that you have read and accepted them and tap Sign.
- On the confirmation screen you will find the effective date. If you have no deposits to certify, tap Close; otherwise, tap Go to deposits to start certifying them.
Joining by 31st December 2026
The administered regime will officially enter into force on 1st January 2027. To activate it from that date, you must sign up for it by 31st December 2026. If you are already signed up for Young Platform and you join after this date, activation will take effect from 1st January of the year following the signing date (for example, if the request is signed in March 2027, entry into the regime will take place from 1st January 2028). If instead you sign up for Young Platform from 1st January 2027 and choose the administered regime, it is active immediately.
The choice is not retroactive: throughout 2026 you remain under the declarative regime and you declare your 2026 transactions yourself in the tax return you submit in 2027, as explained in Tax return and 2026 taxes. Every transaction is taxed only once, under the regime in force at the time you make it.
It is worth certifying historical deposits by 31st December 2026 for two reasons: up to that date certification costs 1% instead of 2% (read Certification prices and Club discounts) and from 1st January 2027 the first operation other than incoming deposits and euro withdrawals makes the purchase price of €0 for uncertified deposits definitive (read What is deposit certification and why do it).
The stages of the transition
- By 31st December 2026: you join from the app. Until the end of the year you remain under the declarative regime.
- Before certification opens: you can consult the list of deposits found, start checking the non-custodial wallets (if any) they came from and prepare the documents.
- By 31st December 2026: you certify historical deposits (verifying the ownership of the origin wallets and certifying the purchase prices) at the promotional price.
- 1st January 2027: the administered regime is activated automatically for the crypto-assets in your Young Wallet.
- During 2027: you submit your tax return for 2026, the final compliance obligation under the declarative regime for your Young Wallet.
Changing your mind by 31st December 2026
By 31st December 2026 you can return to the declarative regime from the Taxes & Reports section and, if you wish, join again within the same date. What happens when you leave the regime is explained in How to revoke your adherence to the administered regime; what happens to deposit certifications is explained in What happens to deposit certifications when you give up the administered regime.
