A limit order can be incomplete or partially filled when it was impossible to use 100% of the amount entered.
This simply means the order was completed only in part.
There are two reasons why a limit order can be incomplete,
- you cancelled the order before it was completely filled. In fact, unlike market orders, limit orders are normally executed at a later date than the date you open it
- there wasn't enough liquidity on the order book. This means the amount of the order left to fill was less than the minimum amount that the platform could execute. In other words, if there is not enough demand or supply of that specific cryptocurrency on the order book to complete the order, the order will not be filled in its entirety.
The amount that was not used in the transaction remains in the original Wallet, without being converted.
