The DeFi Wallet is self-custody: your keys are personal and are saved on your device, protected by your wallet password. The backup creates an encrypted and strictly personal copy of your keys on Google Drive.
- What it is for: it will be essential in case you lose your smartphone or if you can no longer access the app with which you configured it.
- Remember: Young Platform has no way to access this backup or recover it for you.
- Pay attention: the backup does not replace your wallet password, which will still be required every time you log in from a new device. For this reason, we advise you to perform the backup immediately after activating the DeFi Wallet.
Before you start
- You must have a Google account and the Google Drive app installed on your phone.
- Keep your wallet password handy: it is needed to authorise the backup.
- The wallet must be unlocked.
Steps to save to Google Drive
- From the DeFi Wallet page, open More and select Key backup.
- Read the Backup to Google Drive screen and enter your wallet password in the Password field. If you want to check what you have typed, tap the eye icon.
- Tap Save backup.
- Choose the Google account to save the backup to and allow access to Google Drive, if requested.
- Upon completion, the message Backup completed. appears. The keys have been saved in Google Drive.
What the backup contains and how to use it
-The backup contains an encrypted copy of your wallet keys. Without your password, the file is completely unreadable, even for anyone who manages to access your Google Drive. If you change your phone or reinstall the app, you can easily recover the keys from the backup and unlock them by entering your password upon your first access to the DeFi Wallet.
Remember that if you change your wallet password, you will need to perform the backup again: the previous version will in fact remain encrypted with the old password.
Beware of scams
-The backup must be performed exclusively by you from the app. No Young Platform operator will ever ask you to perform it, to share the file saved on Google Drive, to disclose your wallet password, or to provide access to your Google account. If you should receive a request of this type, even in the name of Young Platform, do not do anything and report it immediately to Support.
